Born Again, Connected to the Vine, Living Eternal & Abundant Life
Main Scriptures:
John 15:1-8 "The story of the Vine and the Branches"
Supporting Scripture:
📖 John 3:1–17, John 17:3, John 10:10
🌿 INTRODUCTION
Many people think:
Eternal life begins after death
Abundant life is something God gives if we behave well
But Jesus teaches something very different.
✨ Eternal life starts now.
✨ Abundant life is available now.
✨ And both begin the moment we are born again.
Let’s walk through what Jesus taught and how being born again opens the door to a completely new kind of life.
✨ 1. What Being Born Again Really Means (John 3 & John 17:3)
Nicodemus a Pharisee, teacher, and expert in Scripture came to Jesus at night and said:
“We know You are a teacher come from God.” — John 3:2
Jesus answered with something unexpected:
“Unless you are born again, you cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3
Why would Jesus respond to that statement with a reference to the Kingdom of God?
Jesus explains that the power God uses to perform miracles, which Nicodemus was referring to, is available through access to the Kingdom of God
Nicodemus asks, how we can be Born Again?
In John 3:9-10
How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.
Jesus responded
10 “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things?”
Skip down to verse 15-17
15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
And Jesus reveals the key:
When we believe in Him we have eternal life and everlasting life
The moment your spirit comes alive, you are restored to relationship with God
Being born again means:
you believe Jesus is the Son of God
your spirit becomes alive
you receive eternal life
you gain access to the kingdom
🪴 Parable Connection: The Vine & The Branches (John 15)
Being born again is the moment God grafts you into the Vine.
Your new life begins as His life starts flowing into you.
đź’ Reflection Moment (Point 1):
Have I seen being born again as a spiritual rebirth or just a religious idea?
Have I truly connected to Jesus like a branch connected to the Vine?
✨ 2. Eternal Life Begins Now — Not After We Die (John 17:3)
Jesus defines eternal life clearly:
“This is eternal life: that they know You… and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” — John 17:3
👉 Eternal life is knowing God right now
It is a relationship, not a destination.
This means:
You are living in eternity right now
God’s presence is available today
When we think eternal life only begins after death, we miss the life Jesus died to give us.
🪴 Parable Connection
Just like the branch abides in the Vine daily, eternal life is a daily connection not a future event.
đź’ Reflection Moment (Point 2):
Do I live as if eternal life already started?
Am I walking with Jesus daily or waiting for “one day”?
✨ 3. Being Born Again Gives Access to the Kingdom — Abundant Life Now (John 10:10)
Jesus didn’t stop at eternal life. He promised something more:
“I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.” — John 10:10
Abundant life is:
peace that steadies you
joy that strengthens you
wisdom for every decision
freedom from bondage
spiritual authority
purpose that fuels your days
transformation from the inside out
👉 This is the kingdom life Jesus spoke of
“On earth as it is in heaven.”
And this kingdom life is only available through the Spirit.
When you are born again:
heaven moves into your heart
you receive kingdom access
you live with God’s power, not your own effort
🪴 Parable Connection
A branch connected to the Vine naturally bears fruit. That fruit is abundant life, God’s life flowing through you.
đź’ Reflection Moment (Point 3):
Am I living from God’s life or my own strength?
Where do I need more of God’s peace, joy, or power?
🌿 REFLECTION QUESTIONS
Do I see eternal life as a future event or a present relationship?
Am I experiencing abundant life daily, or am I striving in my own strength?
What area of my life needs to surrender to the Holy Spirit?
Where do I need more of God’s life flowing in me?
🙏 PRAYER
Lord, I repent for my sin. Thank You for the new birth, for making me alive in You.
Thank You that eternal life begins now by knowing You personally.
Teach me to walk daily in the abundant life You promised.
Help me stay connected to Jesus, the true Vine, and let Your life flow through me.
Fill me with Your Spirit, empower me, and transform me so that heaven becomes my daily reality.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
